Health Alert: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Top things to know - Updated May 28, 2020

  • On May 1, President Gabel’s systemwide message shared the Sunrise Plan, which includes an evolving process for certain faculty and staff to request a return to their worksite using this form, as well as guidelines for all University units as they begin to plan for employees to return.​​​
  • Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued a “Stay Safe” order for the State of Minnesota as of Monday, May 18. It encourages all Minnesotans, including the University community, to stay home, wear cloth face coverings (masks), and avoid gatherings of more than 10 people. 
  • All summer non-curricular events through June 30 are to be cancelled (unless they can be offered online).
  • In-person instruction on all University campuses is suspended through the end of the Summer 2020 semester with decisions about Fall 2020 forthcoming. Students, contact your instructor for further guidance. Instructors, additional resources for alternative modes of instruction are linked below.
  • Most University buildings systemwide now require a U Card or other secure means of access, consistent with the protocol for each of our campuses. Review President Gabel’s March 16 message for additional information.
