April 2025 Safe Campus Update
April 17, 2025
☝️First things first: Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Sexual misconduct can happen to anyone and leave lasting impacts on individuals and communities. It’s on all of us to create a strong culture of consent and advocacy to build a campus where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported. You can commit to standing up to sexual misconduct by:
- Engaging with Aurora Center workshops and resources, including Sexual Assault Awareness Month events
- Learning skills to prevent sexual misconduct and to support people affected by it
- Speaking out against incidents of bias that can contribute to sexual misconduct, and reporting them to the Bias Response Referral Network
There are numerous reporting options for incidents of assault, violence, and harassment, with advocates from the Aurora Center available to support you throughout the entire process.
🎤 Jam on it
Get ready for music, food, and fun. Spring Jam hits Lot 37 (behind Mariucci Arena) on April 26 from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Grab your (free!) tickets, figure out your game plan, and peek at this safety info so you can have a carefree time at the highly anticipated event of the semester.
😎 Spring it on
Winter is in the rearview mirror, and sunshine is ahead with plenty of chances to head outside, breathe fresh air, and enjoy springtime in the Twin Cities. As you’re out and about, know the Department of Public Safety has your back.
- DPS will send SAFE-U and Dinkytown Alerts about potential or active emergencies on and around campus.
- UMPD patrols campus and surrounding neighborhoods, working closely with city police and community groups to keep our community safe.
- University Security is in Dinkytown Wednesday through Sunday nights. Ask them for directions, a walk to your car or home, or report suspicious activity.
- Join the self-defense workshop on April 30 to learn personal safety and vigilance.
- Consider these tips when out and about during the remainder of the semester.
